Why Your EBT Deposit Might Be Late and What to Do

Most EBT deposit delays in Connecticut stem from four main types of issues.

Administrative or Eligibility Snags

Paperwork problems are a frequent cause of late payments. A delay can occur if a periodic review is submitted late, is missing signatures, or lacks income verification. Program-Level Implementation or Funding Delays

Do EBT Benefits Expire or Roll Over?

First, check if you qualify. You might be eligible if you have liquid assets under $100 and a gross monthly income of less than $150. You could also qualify if your cash and income combined are lower than your current rent and utility expenses.

To apply, you will need to gather a few documents:

A photo ID
Your last pay stub or proof of no income
A rent receipt and a utility bill

Submit a new “expedited SNAP” application through MyDSS, by calling 1-855-626-6632, or by handing the form to any DSS office. Answer “Yes” when asked if you need emergency food. After applying, complete the required phone interview as soon as possible to verify your identity.

Ask DSS to Recalculate Your SNAP Allotment

You can ask DSS to recalculate your benefit amount mid-cycle whenever your financial situation changes. This applies if your income drops, your expenses rise, or your household size changes.

Collect proof of the change, like new pay stubs, a higher childcare bill, or a note confirming someone moved out. Report it through the MyDSS portal, mail documents to the DSS Scanning Center, call the benefits center, or deliver them to a local office.

DSS must review your report and send a Notice of Action within 10 days. If you are approved for more benefits, they will be posted to your card as soon as the notice is issued. Should you disagree with the outcome, you have 90 days to request a fair hearing.
