If you receive cash assistance through the TEA/TANF program, those benefits are deposited separately. They are available on the 1st of every month, regardless of your SSN.

Several factors can cause a delay in your EBT deposit, from technical glitches to administrative backlogs.
System Outages and Technical Glitches
Technical problems with state eligibility and payment systems can sometimes cause delays. Scheduled maintenance or unexpected issues like power outages can stop the nightly process that sends funds to EBT cards, pushing back your deposit.
Federal Government Shutdowns
A lapse in federal funding can disrupt the normal payment schedule. If a government shutdown interrupts the flow of money to the state, Arkansas may need to hold or reschedule SNAP and TEA benefit payments, resulting in late deposits.
State or Local Emergencies

Do EBT Benefits Expire or Roll Over?
Unused SNAP and TEA benefits in Arkansas carry over each month. However, your funds are subject to two different time limits. These rules determine how long the money remains on your EBT card before it is removed.
Your account must be used at least once every 90 days. A purchase, ATM withdrawal, or even a balance inquiry will reset this clock. An account without activity for three months is considered “aged” and becomes temporarily inaccessible.
To use funds from an aged account, you must contact the Department of Human Services to have it reopened. This restoration is only possible if the benefits have not passed their separate expiration date.
All benefits are permanently removed 12 months after they are issued. These expunged funds cannot be restored. The state may use this money to settle any outstanding overpayments your household owes.

What to Do if Your EBT Balance Runs Out Early
Seeing your EBT balance hit zero before the end of the month can be stressful. It’s a challenging situation, but you are not without support. Several options are available to help bridge the gap until your next benefit deposit arrives.
Apply for Expedited SNAP
If you need food assistance immediately, you may qualify for expedited SNAP benefits. You can start a new application through Access Arkansas or by calling the DHS Customer Service Center at 1-855-372-1084. Be sure to indicate that you need food right away.
To qualify, you must meet certain criteria. Staff will screen you the same day you apply.
You have less than $150 in cash on hand.
Your monthly rent or mortgage plus utility costs are higher than your monthly income.
If you qualify, your benefits should be loaded within seven days. You can request a phone interview if you cannot get to an office, and remember to ask for “expedited service.” The seven-day clock starts once you file the signed first page, and some paperwork can be turned in later, as outlined in SNAP case actions.
Request a Recalculation of Your Benefits
If your financial situation or household size changes, you can ask DHS to recalculate your SNAP allotment. This applies to changes in income, shelter costs, medical bills, or the number of people in your home. You should report these changes within 10 days.
First, gather proof of the change, such as:
Pay stubs showing fewer hours
A new lease or higher utility bill
Doctor or pharmacy receipts
A birth certificate for a new baby
You can report the change online through Access Arkansas, by phone, or in person. Use the “Report a Change” button to upload your documents and request a new budget.
If DHS does not respond within the next benefit cycle, contact your county worker. If needed, you can request a fair hearing in writing.
