Virginia EBT cardholders have five convenient ways to check their SNAP and EBT Cash funds. You can check your available funds online, through a mobile app, over the phone, at a store’s point-of-sale terminal, or on your last shopping receipt. For EBT Cash benefits, you can also use an ATM for a balance inquiry.
1. Check Online Through ConnectEBT
Accessing your account information is straightforward on the official state-approved website.
Go to the ConnectEBT website and choose “Virginia EBT” from the menu.
If you are a new user, create an account by providing the primary cardholder’s Social Security number, date of birth, and 16-digit card number. You will then create a user ID and password.
After logging in, your current SNAP and EBT Cash amounts are displayed on the landing page. You can also view your transaction history under the “Transactions” tab.
2. Use the Benny Mobile App
Using a mobile app provides a quick way to see your current funds directly on your phone.

After any purchase made with your EBT card, your remaining account total is printed at the bottom of the store receipt.
Additionally, most grocery store point-of-sale (POS) terminals allow a free balance inquiry. Simply insert or swipe your card, enter your PIN, and choose the “Balance” option to see your funds on the screen.
5. Make an ATM Inquiry
Using an ATM is an option for checking your EBT Cash benefit amount, but it will not show your SNAP funds.
Insert your EBT card at an ATM that shows the Quest® or NYCE® logo, enter your PIN, and choose “Balance Inquiry” from the checking account options. To avoid fees, use a surcharge-free ATM from a network like the Allpoint Locator.

What To Do If Benefits Are Stolen
Virginia can replace SNAP benefits stolen by skimming or phishing between October 1, 2022, and December 20, 2024. To file a claim:
Change your PIN and report the theft to the EBT Helpdesk or local DSS within 30 days.
Submit the signed SNAP EBT Replacement Request & Client Attestation form.
Replacements are capped at two months of benefits, with a limit of two claims per year. This policy does not cover stolen EBT Cash funds.
Other Common Issues with EBT Cards and How to Resolve Them
Beyond security threats, everyday issues can disrupt your access to benefits. Here are three common problems Virginia EBT cardholders face and the straightforward steps to resolve them quickly and efficiently.
Card Locked or Repeated PIN Errors
Entering the wrong PIN four times in a row will automatically lock your card for 24 hours as a security measure. Your card might also be locked if you used the “Lock/Unlock” feature in the ConnectEBT mobile app and forgot to unlock it before making a purchase.
Wait 24 hours for the card to unlock automatically, or call the Virginia EBT Client Customer Service line at 866-281-2448 to reset your PIN.
If you manually locked your card, open the ConnectEBT app or website and tap “Unlock My Card.”
Choose a new four-digit PIN that is not your date of birth or has repeating digits.
Benefits Show "$0" or "Pending" on Reload Day
Monthly benefits are deposited according to a fixed schedule based on the last digit of your SNAP case number. Funds arrive just after midnight, so checking your balance too early on your deposit day may show a zero balance.
Confirm your deposit date, which corresponds to the last digit of your case number: 0-3 (1st), 4-5 (4th), 6-7 (7th), or 8-9 (9th).
