Oregonians have several convenient options for checking their EBT card funds. You can view your available food and cash benefits online through the state's portal, by using a mobile app, or by calling the 24-hour customer service line. Alternatively, you can find your current amount on your latest store receipt or by performing an inquiry at an ATM.

1. Online Via ebtEDGE

Checking your funds online involves logging into the state's ebtEDGE portal.

Go to the ebtEDGE website and choose “Cardholder Login.”
If prompted, select Oregon from the state drop-down menu and click “Submit.”
Enter your User ID and password. If you are a first-time user, click “Register” to create your account using your card number, ZIP code, and PIN.
Once logged in, the Account Summary page will display your current SNAP and EBT Cash amounts.
You can select “Transactions” for a detailed history or “Freeze Card/Protect My Account” for extra security.
Click “Logout” when you are finished.

2. The Benny App

Using the Benny app is another way to see your current funds on your smartphone.

Download Benny from the Apple App Store or Google Play and open the application.
Tap “Get Started” and enter your mobile number.
Link your Oregon Trail card by entering the 16-digit card number and creating a PIN.
Your home screen will immediately show your current SNAP and EBT Cash funds, which refresh after every transaction.

The app also allows you to get cash back on EBT purchases at participating stores, including Walmart, Costco, Trader Joe's, and Walgreens.

3. 24-Hour Customer Service Line

Calling the Oregon Trail Card customer service line provides an automated way to hear your account information.

Call the toll-free number at 888-997-4447, which is available 24/7.
Choose your preferred language. The menu starts in English, with prompts for Spanish, Russian, and Vietnamese. You can also stay on the line for an interpreter for dozens of other languages.
Enter or speak your 16-digit card number, followed by your PIN when prompted.
The automated system will announce your food and EBT Cash amounts and can also read recent transactions or help you order a replacement card.

4. Store Receipt

Reviewing your most recent store receipt is a straightforward method for tracking your funds.

After you make a purchase with your Oregon Trail card, the printed receipt will show an “EBT Available Balance” line for both your SNAP and EBT Cash accounts.

5. ATM Balance Inquiry

Performing a balance inquiry at an ATM can show you the funds available in your EBT Cash account.

Insert your Oregon Trail card into an ATM that displays the Quest®, Plus®, Star®, or Cirrus® logo.
Enter your PIN, select “Balance Inquiry,” and then choose “Checking” or “EBT.”
The screen and printed slip will show your EBT Cash account amount.

This method does not show your SNAP food benefits. To check your SNAP funds, you can use the Benny app or log in to the ebtEDGE online portal.

How Can I Keep My EBT Card Secure?

How EBT Benefits Are Stolen

Thieves use several methods to access benefits. The most common is skimming, where devices on card readers steal your card data and PIN. Other scams include phishing texts and emails that link to fake websites, or fraudulent mobile apps that mimic official portals to capture your login information.

What To Do If Your Benefits Are Stolen

If you suspect theft, immediately freeze and cancel your card by calling 855-328-6715 on weekdays or 888-997-4447 after hours. Unfortunately, SNAP benefits stolen electronically after December 21, 2024, cannot be replaced as the federal program has ended. However, TANF benefits may be reimbursed if you report the theft within 30 days of discovery.

From a damaged card to a forgotten PIN, several common issues can disrupt access to your benefits. Here’s how to troubleshoot the most frequent problems with your Oregon Trail card.

My Card Is Damaged or Won’t Swipe

A bent card, a cracked chip, or a worn-out magnetic stripe can prevent a card reader or ATM from processing your transaction. Physical wear and tear is a common reason for card failure.

Gently wipe the stripe and chip with a soft cloth to remove any dirt.
If it still doesn’t work, call the ODHS replacement line at 855-328-6715 or visit an ODHS Self-Sufficiency office for a free replacement.
After hours, call the 24-hour customer service line at 888-997-4447 to cancel the damaged card while you wait for the new one.

I Forgot My PIN or It’s Locked

Your card will be locked until midnight after three incorrect PIN entries. Many stores will not allow a manual override, so resetting your PIN is the fastest way to regain access.

Call 888-997-4447 and follow the prompts to choose a new four-digit PIN.
You can also change it online through the ebtEDGE site or ask a receptionist at an ODHS office to reset it for you.
Choose a number that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess, and never keep it with your card.

My Benefits Aren’t Showing or the Balance Is Wrong

SNAP benefits are deposited once a month on a date determined by the last digit of your case number. Holidays can sometimes shift the posting date by a day or two.

If you recently submitted an income change or missed a required review, your case could be temporarily suspended, which would also affect your balance.

Verify your benefit posting date in your ONE Online account or by calling your local worker.
Check your balance using at least two different methods, such as your last store receipt, the ebtEDGE portal, or by downloading the free Benny app.
If the benefits are still missing, contact ODHS directly, as missing paperwork can put your case on hold.
