Your EBT card provides access to benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and EBT Cash programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Keeping track of your available funds is important for household budgeting and helps you avoid running short on benefits when you need them most.
This guide will walk you through the different ways to check your Arizona EBT balance, from using a mobile app to calling customer service.
How to Check Your EBT Balance in Arizona
You can check your EBT funds in Arizona through four primary methods: the ebtEDGE online portal, the Benny mobile app, a 24-hour automated phone line, or by looking at your last store receipt. Each option provides a straightforward way to access your current SNAP and EBT Cash information, helping you manage your household budget effectively.
1. Use The ebtEDGE Website
Checking your account online through the state-linked ebtEDGE portal provides a quick view of both your food and cash benefit totals.
Navigate to the Arizona DES EBT page and click the “Check Your Balance” link, which will direct you to ebtEDGE.com.
Select “Cardholder Login.”
If it is your first time visiting, click “Register” to create a user ID and password. You will need your 16-digit QUEST card number, 4-digit PIN, and ZIP code. If you already have an account, enter your user ID and password.
Accept the terms and log in. Your current Nutrition (SNAP) and EBT Cash funds will appear on the main page.
2. Download The Benny Mobile App
Using the Benny mobile app allows you to see your funds directly on your phone.
Download the Benny app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Open the app and sign up with your phone number or email address, then enter your ZIP code.
Link your QUEST EBT card by entering the card number.
Confirm the one-time security code sent to you. Your account information will refresh automatically each time you open the app.
The app also offers cashback on EBT purchases at participating stores, including Walmart, Costco, Walgreens, and Trader Joe's.
3. Call The 24-Hour Customer Service Line
Calling the automated phone line is another way to get your account information or speak with a representative if you need help.
Dial the toll-free number at 1-888-997-9333 (TTY 1-800-367-8939).
Choose your preferred language. The menu offers English, Spanish, Arabic, and Vietnamese. For additional language support, refer to the state's Limited English Proficiency information.
Enter your 16-digit EBT card number, followed by your 4-digit PIN.
Press the option for a balance inquiry to hear your SNAP and EBT Cash totals.
4. Check A Receipt Or ATM
Reviewing your last store receipt or using an ATM can give you an immediate update on your remaining funds.
Your most recent store receipt will show your remaining funds printed below the list of purchased items.
You can also perform an inquiry at an ATM that displays the QUEST or STAR logo. Insert your card, choose “Balance,” and then select “Checking” to view or print your EBT Cash total. To avoid extra charges, use an ATM locator to find a surcharge-free machine. Keep in mind that ATMs may only show your EBT Cash funds. To see your SNAP benefits, you can check your last receipt or use the Benny app.

How Can I Keep My EBT Card Secure?
Arizona is experiencing a surge in phishing and text message scams targeting EBT users. Recognizing the different forms these scams take is the first step toward protecting your benefits and responding quickly if fraud occurs.
How EBT Benefits Are Stolen
Thieves use several methods, from "smishing" texts that link to fake websites to physical card skimmers on store checkouts that clone your card. Scammers also use phishing calls and social media messages, posing as security to steal your card number or password.
What To Do If Your Benefits Are Stolen
A state program that replaced electronically stolen benefits has been discontinued for thefts after December 20, 2024. If you discover a theft, you must act to protect your account.
Call the FIS number on your card (1-888-997-9333) to report it stolen and request a new one.
Report scam attempts to the Arizona Attorney General.
The first replacement card per year is free, with a $5 fee for additional cards, per the official EBT website.
Other Common Issues with EBT Cards and How to Resolve Them
Beyond security threats, everyday issues like a forgotten PIN or a damaged card can disrupt access to your benefits. Here’s how to handle three common problems you might encounter with your card.
PIN (Personal Identification Number) Problems
Entering the wrong PIN three times in a row triggers an automatic security lock on your account. It is also easy to forget your PIN if you do not use the card often.
Call FIS customer service at 1-888-997-9333 and use the “PIN change” option. You’ll need your card number and the cardholder's date of birth.
If the automated system fails, visit a local DES Family Assistance Administration office with a photo ID to reset your PIN in person.
Once you have a new PIN, write it down in a secure location to avoid future lockouts.
Card Will Not Swipe, Tap, or Insert
A worn-out magnetic stripe or a damaged chip can prevent a point-of-sale terminal from reading your QUEST EBT card. Daily wear and tear from being in a wallet can demagnetize the stripe, while heat can warp the card's plastic.
Some older checkout machines may not have chip readers, requiring a swipe that fails if the stripe is damaged.
Check the card for visible damage like cracks. If the store allows it, you can try a manual entry once.
Order a replacement card from FIS. The first one each year is free, with subsequent replacements costing $5, as noted on the official EBT website.
For immediate needs, you can request an emergency replacement card at a regional DES office by presenting a photo ID.
When your new card arrives, activate it by calling FIS or using the ebtEDGE app to transfer your existing PIN.
No Benefits on the Expected Deposit Date
Benefits are not deposited for everyone on the first of the month. Arizona issues payments on a staggered schedule from the 1st to the 13th, based on the first letter of your last name.
Delays can also happen if renewal paperwork was submitted late or if a bank holiday pushes back the deposit by a day.
Confirm your specific deposit date based on your last name by checking the Nutrition Assistance FAQ.
Check your case status on the Health-e-Arizona Plus website. If it’s listed as “pending,” call the DES Customer Assistance line for an update.
Before you go shopping, check your balance using the phone line, the ebtEDGE portal, or an app like Benny to avoid a declined transaction.
