Navigating Hawaii's Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system can be complex. To assist, here's an overview:

Understanding the Hawaii EBT Card

The Hawaii EBT Card functions similarly to a debit or credit card, loaded with food stamps and/or cash benefits. It's accepted at authorized stores. Upon approval for benefits, you'll receive this card. For assistance, contact Hawaii's EBT customer service at 1-888-328-4292.

Applying for Food Stamps

The most straightforward method to apply for food stamps is online through the Hawaii Department of Human Services portal. Alternatively, you can apply in person by reaching out to your local office or calling the Hawaii SNAP hotline at 1-855-643-1643.

Renewing Your Food Stamps

It's crucial to renew your food stamps before your certification period ends, which typically ranges from 6 to 12 months for most Hawaii households. Confirm your specific certification period with your caseworker.

EBT Deposit Schedule

Benefits are distributed between the 3rd and 5th of each month, determined by the first letter of your last name. For example, if your last name begins with A-F, benefits are available on the 3rd of the month.

Reporting Changes

To report changes such as income adjustments, household size, or address updates, contact your local office or call the Hawaii SNAP hotline at 1-855-643-1643.

Replacing a Lost or Stolen EBT Card

If your EBT card is lost or stolen, immediately call the Hawaii EBT customer service at 1-888-328-4292 to report it and request a replacement.

Additional Benefits

Beyond SNAP, Hawaii offers programs like WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). For more information on these programs and to determine eligibility, visit the Hawaii Department of Human Services.
