Understanding the Georgia EBT Card
The Georgia EBT Card functions similarly to a debit or credit card, loaded with food stamps and/or cash benefits. It's accepted at authorized stores. Upon approval for benefits, you'll receive this card. For assistance, contact Georgia's EBT customer service at 1-888-421-3281.
Applying for Food Stamps
The most straightforward method to apply for food stamps is online through the [Georgia Gateway portal](https://gateway.ga.gov/). Alternatively, you can apply in person by reaching out to your local office or calling the Georgia SNAP hotline at 1-877-423-4746.
Renewing Your Food Stamps
It's crucial to renew your food stamps before your certification period ends, which typically ranges from 6 to 12 months for most Georgia households. Confirm your specific certification period with your caseworker.
EBT Deposit Schedule
Benefits are distributed between the 5th and 23rd of each month, determined by the last two digits of your ID number. For example, if your ID number ends in 00-09, benefits are available on the 5th of the month.
Reporting Changes
To report changes such as income adjustments, household size, or address updates, contact your local office or call the Georgia SNAP hotline at 1-877-423-4746.
Replacing a Lost or Stolen EBT Card
If your EBT card is lost or stolen, immediately call the Georgia EBT customer service at 1-888-421-3281 to report it and request a replacement.
Additional Benefits
Beyond SNAP, Georgia offers programs like WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). For more information on these programs and to determine eligibility, visit the Georgia Department of Human Services.
