EBT and SNAP in Florida
Nov 21, 2024
Navigating the complexities of Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) can be challenging. To assist Florida residents, here's an overview:
Checking Your EBT Balance & Getting Cash Back
Check your EBT balance and get cash back on your benefits with the Benny App.
Understanding the Access Florida Card
The Access Florida Card functions similarly to a debit or credit card, loaded with food stamps and/or cash benefits. It's accepted at authorized stores. Upon approval for benefits, you'll receive this card. For assistance, contact Florida's EBT customer service at 1-888-356-3281.
Applying for Food Stamps
The most straightforward method to apply for food stamps is online through the MyAccess Florida portal. Alternatively, you can apply in person by reaching out to your local office or calling the Florida SNAP hotline at 1-866-762-2237.
Renewing Your Food Stamps
It's crucial to renew your food stamps before your certification period ends, which typically ranges from 6 to 12 months for most Florida households. Confirm your specific certification period with your caseworker.
EBT Deposit Schedule
Benefits are distributed between the 1st and 28th of each month, determined by the 9th and 8th digits of your case number. For example, if your case number's 9th and 8th digits are 00-03, benefits are available on the 1st of the month.
Reporting Changes
To report changes such as income adjustments, household size, or address updates, contact your local office or call the Florida SNAP hotline at 1-866-762-2237.
Replacing a Lost or Stolen EBT Card
If your EBT card is lost or stolen, immediately call the Florida EBT customer service at 1-888-356-3281 to report it and request a replacement.
Additional Benefits
Beyond SNAP, Florida offers programs like WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). For more information on these programs and to determine eligibility, visit the Florida Department of Children and Families.
