2. The Benny App

Using the Benny app on your smartphone is a convenient way to check your funds on the go.

Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Open the app and begin the sign-up process with your phone number or email address.
Link your Oregon Trail card by entering the 16-digit card number.
Your home screen will then show your current SNAP and EBT Cash balances, which update after every transaction.

3. 24-Hour Customer Service Line

Calling the Oregon Trail Card's automated phone line gives you around-the-clock access to your account information.

Dial the toll-free number at 888-997-4447.
Listen to the prompts to choose your preferred language. The service offers support in English, Spanish, Russian, and Vietnamese, with interpreter services available for other languages.
Enter your 16-digit card number and PIN when requested.
The automated system will announce your SNAP and EBT Cash balances. You can also listen to recent transactions or request a replacement card.

4. Store or Point-of-Sale Receipt

Checking your most recent grocery receipt is a simple way to see your remaining funds.

After you make a purchase with your Oregon Trail card, the printed receipt will show an “EBT Available Balance” line for both your SNAP and EBT Cash accounts.

5. ATM Balance Inquiry

Performing a balance inquiry at an ATM can quickly tell you how much you have in your EBT Cash account.

Insert your Oregon Trail card into an ATM that displays the Quest®, Plus®, Star®, or Cirrus® logo.
Enter your PIN, select “Balance Inquiry,” and then choose “Checking” or “EBT.”

The on-screen display and printed slip will show your EBT Cash account balance only. To check your SNAP funds, you can use the ebtEDGE portal or the Benny app.

While some ATMs may charge a fee for this service, you can find surcharge-free machines by using an Allpoint network locator online.

How Can I Keep My EBT Card Secure?

Phishing and spam attacks are increasingly common in Oregon, targeting benefit recipients with sophisticated scams. Recognizing the various forms these threats can take allows you to protect your account and act quickly if you are targeted.

How EBT Benefits Are Stolen

The most common method is skimming, where criminals use hidden devices on card readers to steal your card data and PIN. Thieves also create fake apps, websites, and text message scams to trick you into sharing your login details. ODHS will never ask for your card number or PIN via text, call, or email.

What To Do If Your Benefits Are Stolen

If you spot an unauthorized charge, immediately freeze your card and report the theft. SNAP benefits stolen electronically cannot be replaced for thefts after December 21, 2024, as the federal program has ended. TANF and Refugee Cash benefits may be reimbursed if you report the loss within 30 days and file a request with ODHS.

Other Common Issues with EBT Cards and How to Resolve Them

Beyond security threats, you might encounter other common issues with your Oregon Trail Card. Knowing how to handle them can save you time and prevent disruptions to your benefits.

My Card Is Damaged or Won’t Swipe

A bent card, a cracked chip, or a worn-out magnetic stripe can prevent a card reader or ATM from processing your transaction. Sometimes, simple dirt or debris is the culprit.

Gently wipe the stripe and chip with a soft, clean cloth.
If it still doesn't work, call the ODHS replacement-card line at 855-328-6715 during business hours or visit an ODHS Self-Sufficiency office for a free replacement.
To secure your account while you wait, call the 24-hour customer service line at 888-997-4447 to cancel the damaged card.

I Forgot My PIN or It’s Locked

Entering the wrong PIN three times in a row will lock your card for the rest of the day as a security measure. Many stores cannot manually override a locked PIN.

To reset your PIN immediately, call 888-997-4447 and follow the prompts to choose a new one.
You can also change it online through the ebtEDGE site or by visiting an ODHS office to have it reset.
Choose a number that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess, and never store your PIN with your card.

My Benefits Aren’t on My Card

SNAP benefits are deposited monthly on a schedule based on the last digit of your case number. Holidays can sometimes cause a one-day delay in posting.

Missing paperwork or an incomplete review can also lead to a temporary suspension of your case until all requirements are met.

Confirm the deposit date on your ONE Online account or check the Oregon EBT Card Help page.
Check your balance using your last store receipt, by calling 888-997-4447, or by logging into your ebtEDGE account. You can also download Benny, a free app for tracking your balance.
If your benefits are still missing after the scheduled deposit date, contact ODHS to see if your case is suspended due to outstanding verification.
