Your EBT card provides access to benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and EBT Cash, such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Effectively managing your balance helps with budgeting and prevents running short on funds.
This guide outlines several ways to check your EBT balance in Indiana, from using a mobile app to calling customer service.
How to Check Your EBT Balance in Indiana
You can check your Indiana Hoosier Works funds through the official state portal, by using the Benny mobile app, by calling the 24-hour customer service line, or by making an inquiry at a participating ATM. Each method allows you to see your current SNAP and EBT Cash amounts, helping you keep track of your available benefits.
1. Use the Online Portal
Checking your account online provides a detailed view of your funds and transaction history.
Go to ConnectEBT.com and choose “Indiana” from the drop-down menu.
Log in with your User ID and password. If you are a new user, click “Create User” to register with your card number, ZIP code, and PIN.
After signing in, the Account Summary screen will show your separate SNAP and EBT Cash balances. You can view or print details from the “Transaction History” tab.
2. Download the Benny App
Using the Benny mobile app is a convenient way to see your account information on your phone.
Download the Benny app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Create an account using your phone number or email address and your ZIP code.
Link your Hoosier Works card to your account.
Tap “My Card” to see your real-time SNAP and EBT Cash funds and recent transactions.
The app also offers automatic cash-back on eligible EBT purchases at major retailers such as Costco, Walmart, and Walgreens.
3. Call the Customer Service Line
Calling the 24-hour customer service line allows you to hear your balances through an automated system or speak with an agent.
Call 877-768-5098.
Press “1” for your balance.
Enter your 16-digit card number followed by your 4-digit PIN. The automated system will read both your SNAP and EBT Cash amounts.
If you stay on the line after the prompts, you can speak with a live agent. Support is available in Spanish, Burmese, Arabic, and Hakha Chin, with more languages offered through interpreter services.
4. Check at an ATM
Making an inquiry at an ATM is another option, though it may only show your cash benefits.
Find an ATM that displays the Quest® logo.

How Can I Keep My EBT Card Secure?
Phishing and spam attacks are on the rise in Indiana, targeting EBT users with increasing sophistication. Recognizing the different forms these scams can take is the best way to protect your benefits and act quickly if fraud occurs.
How EBT Benefits Are Stolen
Thieves use several common tactics to gain access to your account. These include sending fake text messages or calls to trick you into sharing your card number and PIN, installing card skimmers on payment terminals, and creating cloned cards to drain your account.
What To Do If Your Benefits Are Stolen
If you suspect theft, act immediately. Due to expired federal authority, SNAP benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, cannot be replaced. However, TANF cash stolen via skimming may be reimbursed.
Immediately lock your card and change your PIN.
Call customer service at 877-768-5098.
File a report with your local police.
For TANF theft, submit a theft affidavit following the state's fraud guidance.
Other Common Issues with EBT Cards and How to Resolve Them
Beyond fraud, several common technical issues can prevent you from using your Hoosier Works card. Knowing how to troubleshoot these problems can help you access your benefits without unnecessary delays.
My Card Won’t Swipe, Insert, or Tap
A damaged card is a frequent problem. The magnetic stripe or chip can get scratched or demagnetized from normal wear and tear, or from exposure to heat, moisture, or magnets.
Ask the cashier to manually enter your 16-digit card number.
If the card is physically damaged, call the EBT Customer Service line at 877-768-5098 or visit the Hoosier Works card page to request a replacement. The first replacement each year is free.
Keep your new card in a protective sleeve and away from magnets to prevent future damage.
I Forgot My PIN or It’s Locked
For security, your card will automatically lock after three incorrect PIN attempts. This feature is in place to stop unauthorized use if your card is lost or stolen.
Call the automated EBT Customer Service line at 877-768-5098 to choose a new four-digit PIN. You can also change it online via the ConnectEBT website.
Choose a number that is difficult to guess and avoid simple patterns.
Never write your PIN on the card or share it with anyone, including store employees.
My Benefits Aren’t on My Card
It can be alarming to see a zero balance on the day you expect your benefits. In Indiana, SNAP deposits are staggered throughout the month based on the first letter of your last name.
Deposits may also be processed later on weekends or holidays. In some cases, a pending recertification or address change can temporarily pause your benefits.
Confirm your specific deposit date using Indiana’s alphabetical loading schedule.
Check your balance later in the day. You can use the Benny app, the ConnectEBT website, the toll-free number, or your last store receipt.
If funds are still missing, check the FSSA Benefits Portal for any pending actions or call the DFR at 800-403-0864.
